Why use HDMI 2.1 and DP 2.1 ports on video sources? There are several reasons that have been pushing image sources towards wider video data bandwidth and full adoption of the specifications on video signals. Those mostly include: gaming - 4K-120/240/360 Hz 10-bit RGB images require >18 Gbps + FRL signal An aside: this has given me the thought that I could use the wireless video output mode on the PC to send video to the TV, and then use the HDMI only for sound.
Understanding the Context
The problem with this is, as long as the TV is powered on with an HDMI cable connecting the receiver to the TV, sound doesn't work to the Denon receiver. The LG OLED G4 seems to be having a significant issue with HDMI2 (eARC). Connecting external video sources to HDMI2 (which work on the other the other 3 HDMIs) do not produce an image (but you can hear sound). I have done all the troubleshooting in the world in order to try to isolate the issue...
